Whoville Exhibition Ed Flood - Design for "Spirit of the Comics" Poster

This collection of artwork is part of an exhibition from noted contemporary collector, Beth Rudin DeWoody, curated by Laura Dvorkin in collaboration with Circa 1881Whoville, coincides with EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, and is available through October 23rd.

One of the founding members of the "Hairy Who," Ed Flood attended the Art Institute of Chicago alongside many other artists associated with the Imagist movement, whose roots are traced back exhibitions at the Hyde Park Art Center. It was there that Flood and Ed Paschke jointly organized the first Nonplussed Some exhibition in 1968. Flood is known for his highly crafted sculptures and paintings.  His works often included typography and figural drawings, much like in the Design for "Spirit of the Comics" Poster created with ink on graphite paper in 1969.
